'Fresh and exciting' line-up for Doubledotbash!By Rachael Pywell
July 04, 2012
South Street Arts Centre and local promoters Doubledotbash! have announced the full line up for their third annual festival this Saturday.
Legendary Welsh songwriter and former Gorky’s Zygotic Mynci frontman Euro Childs will be taking to the stage for a day of musical surprises.
Japanese band Bo Ningem will be bringing their attention-grabbing psyche-kraut-rock to the stage, while Laura J Martin will be playing her unique set of flute, guitar and vocal looping.
The deliberately eclectic line up includes something for everyone, from art-folk to DIY rock, electronic, drone and contemporary classical.
“There’s a really nice breadth to the programme this year,” said South Street’s art co-ordinator John Luther.
“We find this far more exciting than seeing a lot of just one genre where, however good the line up, the music starts to merge into one.
“Every act at DOUBLEDOTBASH! should stay fresh and exciting.”
Wordsmith Seamus Fogarty will also be taking to the stage, playing songs from his debut album, backed by violin duo Geese.
DOUBLEDOTBASH! has been hugely successful over the past three years, quickly establishing itself as an important date in the calendar for music fans.
“The festival was a really joyous occasion for me,” said folk singer Rachel Dadd who performed last year. “I felt very privileged to be able to perform in such a nice room on a beautiful piano to such an appreciative audience.”
The festival will utilise both stages at South Street this year, and feature a food stall from Tutu’s Ethiopian Table.
Tickets for the event are available in advance for £10, or £15 on the door.
