Battle of the Bands 2009: before the show

By Mike Pyle
April 29, 2009

Rockers hit all the right notes in the final round of the Battle of the Bands 2009.

Six bands went head to head during the event at the Wokingham Youth Centre in Reading Road on Friday night.

Pop-rock-with-an-80s-twist Bracknell band Streetfight Silence was crowned grand winner of the contest and walked away with £200 and a ticket for a day's recording in a top London studio.

The other bands to compete were Clockwork and Caution, both from Reading, Valour, the other band from Bracknell, When Memories Fade, the only band in the final with a female vocalist, and Five Aces Black, of Farnborough.

This week, we will feature a series of videos and features on this year's Battle of the Bands.

Today we start with a video on what happened before Friday's show got under way, when reporter Mike Pyle captured the atmosphere and spoke to some of the contestants.

- Were you at the youth centre on Friday night? What did you make of the event? Which band did you think was the best? Have your say here.
