By Mike PyleApril 25, 2009
Streetfight Silence went home victorious after the final of the annual Wokingham Battle of the Bands.
The Bracknell band’s mix of “pop/rock with an 80’s twist” impressed the judges enough to beat Clockwork into second place.

The event, organised by the Winnersh Neighbourhood Action Group, attracted an estimated 400 people who watched the three-piece walk away with the £200 prize money and a ticket for a day’s recording in a top studio.
Streetfight Silence members Russ Merry, Chris Penfold and Chris Cooley brought a strong fol-lowing with them to the event in Wokingham Youth Centre in Reading Road and they contributed to an electric atmosphere.
The other bands to perform were Bracknell act Valour, Reading 16-year-olds Caution, When Memories fade, who featured the only girl in the contest and Five Aces Black who got to the final after Strangers in Moscow dropped out.
Organiser Penny Bradshaw said: “It was a brilliant night. The bands were all fantastic and the crowd looked like they really enjoyed it.”
