Hundreds of music fans packed a youth centre in Wokingham for the first round of the 2009 Battle of the Bands.
More than 300 youngsters went crazy for the event at the Wokingham Youth Centre in Reading Road on Friday night - a record number, according to organisers.
Bands Clockwork and Streetfight Silence won a place in competition's final after wooing judges and audience with their sets.
The other bands that took part in the competition are The Chimes, Pablo Picasso, Kill The Killer, That Darn Sasquatch.
The 2009 Battle of the Bands is organised by Winnersh Neighbourhood Action Group members Penny Bradshaw, who is also Business & Community manager of the Forest School, and Pat Rowell.
The judges included last year's participants Ted Cooke and Kev Delaney as well as Simon Maltby, manager of Winnersh Triangle Business Park.
The next round of the competition will take place at the same venue on Friday, February 27.
The final is set to be held on April 24.
