Hailing from Mobile, Alabama, Lisa Mills is a great young American blues singer with a voice to die for and on Saturday February 18 she will be appearing at Cranleigh Arts Centre. An exceptionally talented singer, songwriter and guitarist, she has appeared or recorded with the likes of Dr John, Delbert McClinton, Robert Plant, Jeff Beck and Albert Lee, while she has been compared to everybody from Brenda Lee to Bonnie Rait via Etta James. While rooted in the blues the music she plays spans a variety of genres, with a decidedly Americana twinge to a lot of the material. Check out her current album, Tempered In Fire, which was actually recorded in the UK with top class Brit musicians like guitarist Andy Fairweather Low, bassist Ian Jennings and the horn section of Nick Payn and Matt Winch and features some great covers, including the Otis Redding classic These Arms Of Mine.
