PSST ... there’s a new sandwich bar in town and it promises to be Purely Sensational.

And in a town that seems to have a Subway or deli on just about every street corner, any new sandwich bar needs to offer something that little bit different to stand out from the pack.

And that’s exactly what PS Sandwich and Dessert Bar is trying to do with its sandwich range. As well as choosing from white or brown, you can can also plump for your sandwich to be made in its gorgeous pitta bread.

There’s a range of fillings available, including a zinging cajun chicken, lamb meatballs or tuna Mexican. Each one costs £2.80 and is packed to satisfy even the hungriest of mouths.

The platter that we tucked in to also included a roast vegetable and brie combination, ensuring vegetarians are catered for.

PS also offers other lunchtime favourites including jacket potatoes with a range of fillings, pastas and salads.

We didn’t try them, but there is also a wide range of delicious sounding desserts, as you’d expect from the name, including the interesting sounding hedgehog or the chocoholic brownie special. Each costs £4.95.

PS also specialises in specially made shakes, from £2.70 for a regular. Flavours include Kit Kat, Oreo and Twix. If you’d rather have something healthy then why not try one of its freshly made smoothies?

PS is based on the busy Wokingham Road parade of shops, opposite Alfred Sutton Primary School. It’s on the site of the old John’s Hot Bread Shop and offers 10 per cent discount for NUS and NHS card holders. There’s also 10 per cent discount on orders over £20.

Alternatively, you can have your order delivered if you spend more than £10.

PS is open seven days a week and looks set to become a staple of that popular shopping parade.
