Drug laws don’t work: the phoney war, C4, 9pm

LAST year Britain spent £1.7 billion on the “war against drugs”.

In this documentary, award-winning journalist Nick Davies advances the radical argument that prohibition, not heroin itself, turns users into criminals and corpses.

He backs up his argument with interviews with both addicts and doctors; even the drugs

czar Keith Hellawell makes an appearance.

Banzai, C4, 10pm

JUST when you thought low budget copycat television couldn’t get any worse, Channel 4 has decided to introduce us to the weird world of Banzai.

Mr Shakehands assaults e-list celebs with his nonstop politeness and wildly enthusiastic handshake.

Viewers are then encouraged to vote on the outcome of sports such as ‘squirrel fishing’ and ‘old lady wheelchair chicken’ challenges. It’s trashy, mindless fun.
