Streep still plagued by nerves

No matter how many awards and Oscar nominations she gets, actress MERYL STREEP says she is still far from confident before the cameras roll.
The 53-year-old actress, who is married to sculptor DONALD GUMMER, tells the Boston Herald she is often plagued by doubts despite 12 Academy Award nominations and two wins.
“You think you want to get out of it,” she says. “Not every time, but there are varying degrees of confidence and self-loathing, and you come to the work at different points and often have a lot of doubt.
“I always say to my husband, ‘I’ve never felt like this before,’ and he says, ‘You always do this, always. Always.’
“He says, ‘You dismantle yourself before you begin, that’s your process.’ ‘This is not a process,’ I tell him, ‘this is a real feeling’.”
Streep could be in line for an Oscar next year for either of her two new movies.
She stars in Adaptation with NICOLAS CAGE and The Hours with NICOLE KIDMAN and JULIANNE MOORE.
