Masterchef

BBC1

9pm

They're back - The dynamic duo of a slimmed-down Gregg Wallace and Aussie chef John Torode, getting very excited about fancy food cooked by Britain's best amateur chefs.

However, in the first rounds, we get to laugh at the rubbish ones who get booted off immediately for putting peaches in their scrambled eggs and haddock with cornflakes....or something.

They could even do what I once did and put mint in a pasta sauce (by mistake).

I tried rectifying it with a supersonic dose of chiili, but it still tasted like a fiery tomato-flavoured toothpaste.

In this the contestants are in at the deep end as they are challenged to cook one of Torode's dishes without a recipe.

There's the usual frantic scenes as the amateurs are thrown into a proper kitchen and asked to help with service.

And of course, Torode will taste the food, say what he thinks, and then Wallace will say the same thing in a different way.

Regardless, it's definitely much better than the old version with Lloyd Grossman.
