Tonight's TV Choice: Bluestone 42

Bluestone 41

BBC 3

10pm

Due to the clash between Man United and Real Madrid in the Champions League tonight, it's pretty slim pickings for other TV gems this evening.

However, I've spotted this, a comedy based on a group of bomb disposal experts working in Afghanistan.

The question is: Can something like this be funny?

While I'm sure it will offend certain people, the sort of people who have Ofcom on speed dial, I think if it's got a decent script it should be good.

The writers, Richard Hurst and James Cary, who also do Miranda, which is very funny, have clearly spent some time with soldiers as the script features a LOT of banter (abuse) and some very dark humour.

It sounds like the sort of thing I'd love.

In this, the first episode, the team has a tricky roadside operation, but one member appears to be more concerned about cracking on to the new recruit.
