Tonight's TV Choice: Brain DoctorsBy Hugh Fort
February 06, 2013
There are some tough jobs out there and being a brain surgeon must be right up there in terms of stress and pressure.
Any job where a mistake leads to your patient being either paralysed or even dying must be tough on the old nerves, but also extremely rewarding.
So a job which requires total concentration and intense precision might not be the best place to allow a film crew in.
But they do, and we take a fascinating trip into the neurosurgery ward at John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford to see how the brain surgeons go about their work.
We meet the husband of a woman who has been left in a coma after a car crash and a young boy with a dangerous build-up of fluid on the brain.
This should be an intriguing insight into highly-skilled medical treatment that will leave you marvelling at the skill involved.
NB: The second and third parts of yesterday's (Tuesday) recommendation, Danny Baker's Great Album Showdown, are on BBC4 tonight and tomorrow at 9pm.
