Budding boy band Union J need your votes to help them reach the final of the X Factor.
The promising pop band, featuring Bracknell’s Josh Cuthbert – who told the Standard he has been “overwhelmed” by all the local support – are through to Saturday’s semi-finals, but his mum is appealing to the people of Berkshire to vote the boys into the final.
Kathryn Browne, 50, of Winkfield said: “The boys have come such a long way since the start of the competition and it would be fantastic if they could make the final. However, this won’t happen without the support of Bracknell.
“It would be fantastic if everyone who is voting could vote a couple of extra times this weekend. We don’t want to see them in the bottom two again, but we do want to see them in Manchester for the final.”
Former Charters pupil Josh and Union J only just scraped through to the semi-finals after they landed in the bottom two alongside flamboyant Essex boy Rylan Clark.
Kathryn added: “Based on their performance on Saturday, they did not deserve to be in the bottom two, but with the way the voting is going this series, we were not surprised.
“Saturday was the best night so far for Union J, and in particular for Josh.
“His voice was finally given individual recognition by both Gary Barlow and Nicole Scherzinger.
“Their song choices were brilliant.
“My absolute favourite of the whole show was their rendition of ‘I’ll Be There’.”
On Sunday’s sing off the boys were second to perform after Rylan sang a cover of ‘Wires’ by Athlete.
The foursome sang a flawless cover of Snow Patrol’s ‘Run’, which won over the judges.
Kathryn said: “Their rendition of ‘Run’ was very emotional and many of my friends and family have
said they were moved to tears watching it.
“The boys were very sorry to see Rylan go, as he has been an amazing performer and has become a very good friend.”
The semi-final of X Factor is on Saturday on ITV1 at 8pm.
The grand final will take place on the weekend of December 8 and 9.
Kathryn said: “It would be lovely to see them in the final – I have always had faith they would get
“They look and sound fantastic on stage and I believe they will have a career after the X Factor.
“Rumour has it there’s not a lot of votes between people – it would be great if people could vote.”
