Winkfield's Josh Cuthbert and Union J into next round of X Factor

Winkfield’s Josh Cuthbert starred for Union J on the X Factor and was voted through to next week’s show.

After the group’s indifferent performance of Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop me Now’ last weekend, the boys sung a cover of Leona Lewis’ ‘Bleeding Love’ and Broken Strings by Nelly Furtado and James Morrison this week.

They attracted praise from the judges, with Tulisa Contostavlos saying: “Much better than last week.

“I know you guys have a really strong female following, so a lot of potential to do well in this competition.”

Gary Barlow added: “It was a total transformation from last week,” while Nicole Scherzinger said: “You got everything right this week.

“This week you stripped everything back.

“It was beautiful, simple.”

Union J’s mentor Louis Walsh was more than complimentary with the performance of the group.

“You worked so hard this week, you’re like a new group and you bring something to this show that nobody else brings.”

The eleven finalists left in the competition will be singing tracks with a club classics theme next weekend.
