Winkfield's Josh Cuthbert & Union J in X Factor live shows

Tears of joy and whoops of appreciation erupted when Winkfield's Josh Cuthbert and his band Union J made it through to the X Factor live shows last night.

The three piece, formerly known as Triple J, were given another chance when Rough Copy could not make it to the Irish judge's 'house' in Las Vegas.

The band were originally sent home from Boot Camp on Sunday, September 23, when GMD3, from Windsor won an on-the-spot a capella sing-off.

Joined by George Shelley, who originally auditioned solo, the boy band, renamed Union J, sang Carly Rae Jepson’s Call Me Maybe to Louis and his guest Sharon Osbourne.

Before Louis announced the good news, Josh, 20, a former Farnborough College sixth form pupil said: "It would mean everything, this is what we want so much and going back to our normal jobs after boot camp was horrible.

"I just don't want to let my family and friends down."

Louis told the band it was a bit of a gamble for him but one he was willing to take. He told the boys the work started here and they must not let him down.

Union J will perform live on the X Factor on ITV1 next Saturday at 8pm.
