The Apprentice – Why I fired them, BBC One, Tonight, 10.35pm
With the final of the excellent reality TV show – where a load of corporate sycophants try to persuade Lord Sugar they are the star he needs in his company – coming up on Sunday, there’s just time to look back over this year’s series.
This show sees Lord Sugar explain why he fired each of the candidates (I know, the clue’s in the name).
The horrible Melissa got the boot because she said she was a brilliant salesperson and then didn’t sell anything. Instead, she made up words.
Other memorable contestants included the Scouse bloke, er, the communications man and some others.
Also, Lord Sugar needs to explain why he kept Stuart “The Brand” Baggs on the show. He has to be one of the most ludicrous people ever to appear on our screens, and yet Lord Sugar sees something no-one else does in him.
I don’t think he’ll win but the 21-year-old has done brilliantly to get so far with everyone else thinking he’s an idiot.
The Apprentice – The Final, BBC One, Sunday, 9pm
And here we are, the final, you’ll know who’s in it by now (I don’t at the time of writing). If Baggs wasn’t voted off on Wednesday, I wonder if he can win it? And, more to the point, will anyone be able to work with him? Ever?
Just two are left and are ready to battle it out for Lord Sugar’s job.
The twist? They have to make their teams from people already booted off the series.
They will have an idea who they want, and who they don’t, like the doctor who sold a load of bread rolls and then didn’t make them.
You can rest assured those who come back will try to make the most of their time back in the spotlight, but that’s a side show to the main event.
Who will win? And how long will it be before they get quietly sacked from their dream job?
Family Film of the Decade, ITV1, Saturday, 6pm
Monsters Inc. Case Closed.
Sorry, let’s try to be a bit more diplomatic.
The clue’s in the name of this show as we spend an hour looking back over the past 10 years, trying to work out which were the best ones.
There will be a lot of computer animated Pixar films, Wallace and Gromit and various other flicks.
Talking heads include Cameron Diaz and Nick Park, creator of Wallace and Gromit.
It’s a good way to waste an hour after a hard day of Christmas shopping, but if you don’t want the kids to know how their Christmas DVD ends you might want to change the channel.
The Dukes of Hazzard, ITV1, Tuesday, 10.35pm
This is the film version of the slightly rubbish 80s’ show where they got in their car through the windows.
The film, unsurprisingly, is a bit rubbish, but quite fun is a stupid way.
It’s also on at a stupid time.
But if you like stupid films in the middle of the night, this is your bag.
Burt Reynolds for some reason lowers himself to being in this film, and then steals the show in the role of Boss Hogg, the dastardly town commissioner.
Starring Jonny Knoxville of Jackass, who manages not to hurt himself in a ludicrous way, and Seann “Stifler” William Scott,
who spells his name in a stupid way, this should be a fairly enjoyable romp for the insomniacs out there.
