Danyl Johnson survives X Factor 'diva week'

By Laura Herbert
October 19, 2009

X Factor hopeful Danyl Johnson is still in the running to scoop this year’s crown as he survived last night’s results show.

Saturday’s live show was branded diva week as the 11 remaining contestants each sung hits by classic divas and got to meet Whitney Houston.

Danyl from Arborfield sang I Don’t Know My Own Strength, a previously unheard of album track by Whitney Houston.

He and fellow contestants Olly Murs and Jamie Archer, also mentored by Simon Cowell in the Over 25 category, all made in through to next week.

Danyl johnson is a very talented person and it takes courage and persiverence to be a contestant on x factor, to be subject of negative comments and be exposed to all sorts of critical hype , I am glad that he is strong enough to carry on with his dreams, if you do not like him its a free country but if he comes from my neck of the woods regardless of my feelings I would support him as he is giving your town some good publicity if im honest half of the people that are running Danyl down dont know him and should get a life i'd like to see them sing on x factor and do so well,I hope he wins to be honest as he deserves to and if he doesnt I hope he gets a pop career from this after all the hard work Good luck Danyk who cares if your from Reading or Timbucktoo You have real talent and deserve a break

Basingstoke, Bracknell and Newbury are in Reading, also, by your reckoning.

Arborfield is READING. It has an RG2 postcode which is the same as Shinfield and WHITLEY.

Arborfield is NOT in Reading, although it has an RG postcode, the address should read Arborfield, Nr Reading - I'm not being pedantic, I did live there for a few years

Sorry murrymint but Emmer Green is not really Reading as it used to be classed as part of oxfordshire and most people who live in Emmer Green don't like being classed as Reading residents more so when anything bad is said about the town. They have allways felt they are above Reading.A place in its own right the same as people from Cavesham do.Which ever way there is a lot more talent in Reading /Cavesham/Emmer Green than daynl. If he was any good he would have made it before now.Hes had enough money spent on training since a very little boy the fact he hasn't had any parts in the shows since he grew up shows he hasn't got what it takes. If hes haveing to rely on Reading votes then that is sad.

..okay Hugh, everyone is allowed an opinion, freedom of speech, blah blah blah, (yawn)....but why do you feel the need to bring the man down because he's local and is doing well?

I get the picture that you don't like the 'manufactured' & money making aspect of it, but why the derogatory comments on his character and ability? It doesn't add up....I'm starting to worry that you're getting addicted to posting comments for the sake of it and trying to find your 15mins of fame through this medium?

But hey, I better stop now before I start posting my opinion on every story on this website...

Just looked at the post I've had delivered today and as I thought Emmer Green READING, BERKSHIRE. No mention of Oxfordshire anywhere. Oh and Arborfield has a RG postcode as well, which means it's in READING....... Some of you people are so petty it's unreal, just applaud the guy for at least having the bottle to have a go, regardless of your musical or tv taste.

"The Two Planks"

Nice one. Watching John and Edward Grimes is much the same to watching You've Been Framed... except it causes lasting damage to your ears, and not just from your *insert family memeber*'s awful laughing in your ear.

Please please please get rid of them. Oh... hold on... I'm commenting on this... what has happened to me.

What I really was going to say... Please provide alternative suggestions for nick names for, 'The Two Planks' Aka, John and Edward Grimes!

I don't think you should vote for the "most-local" resident - if you're voting at all then surely it's on the basis that they have some talent ?

Except the 2 planks made it through - one of the funniest Kareoke performances I've ever seen. And these are supposed to be the 12 finalists - cripes !

I can't spell it correctly because I don't have a Russian keyboard here.

If you're gonna do the "holier than thou" routine Common Cents, the least you can do is ensure your spelling is right.
