Danyl Johnson shines in X Factor live debut

Danyl Johnson’s survived the first live X-Factor show but his performance sparked a row among the judges.

Danyl, 27, wowed the crowds with a pitch perfect version of Whitney Houston’s I am Telling You.

But there were serious tensions between Simon Cowell and Dannii Minogue afterwards.

A jibe Dannii made about the Starmaker teacher’s sexuality caused Danyl’s mentor Simon to respond angrily.

Meanwhile Danyl stood on the stage looking close to tears.

After he performed Dannii said: “It was a fantastic performance, a true X-Factor performance – turning guys into girls.”

The Aussie beauty then added: “No need to change the gender references, if we’re to believe everything we read in the press.”

This elicited an angry response from Simon who fumed: “I think we’re missing something here. I just heard one of the best performances I ever heard in my life.

“And you can forget playing any of those games with him. I’m not having that. This guy sang his heart out. Give him some credit.”

Later Dannii responded to claims she had behaved badly on Twitter, saying her comments had been misinterpreted and she was not homophobic.

Cheryl Cole was forced to eat her words. After learning of Simon’s song choice for Danyl she said: “He’s chosen a woman’s song. I think it is ridiculous.”

But after he impressed everyone – dressed simply with no distracting background – the big-haired beauty admitted it was the right song choice.

“I could feel the atmosphere in the room when you sang that song,” she told Danyl, urging him to be aware of the difference between “confidence and cockiness”.

The public did not feel Danyl deserved to go because he was saved from the chop.

Kandy Rain received the lowest number of votes from the public and their dream of stardom was over.

Who honestly votes on this dirge, other than teenage girls & middle-aged housewives?

And anyway, if he's that good, why didn't he enter Has Reading Got Talent?

Given the story is dated today (Monday) and X-Factor took place over the last 2 days the story seems to be missing quite a bit out. Such as the fact that on Xtra Factor after the results Dannii apologised to anyone who was offended but pointed out that her and Danyl had shared the same joke about changing the lyrics during rehersals, that she has subsequently spoken to him and he was not in the slightest offended. That Simon then also apologised to Dannii for his reaction and commenting that no one is as close to the acts as Dannii is. So pretty much completely undoing the whole article, well done.

Still, he can't be worse than the other rubbish product from Reading that is supported by thousands just because they also emanate from Reading and where we have to suffer those interminable stories of boredom and woe every Monday morning. (Hmm... wonder what type of jelly you will be bringing round for Bushes, Hugh?)

I must admit, the show has been on too long but the auditions are just amazing! Love it when they are so rubbish and then shocked to actually hear it! Haha - but like I said, I would rather have Danyl to support than them idiot twins who should not be on that show!

I dont know whats worse, the fact that this article is on here or all the people that have commented on it.

I have never and will never vote for any1 on any of these shows, but lets face it X-Factor isnt that bad, its better than Brucey.

The eye candy aint that bad either.

I can't believe how spiteful some of you are being about Danyl. Yes ok, he might be an emotional person but at least he is good at what he is doing and for once, there is someone from Reading on the show that we can all support! It could be worse, we could have to 2 idiot twins from Reading, that would be an embarrasement. lol

Hugh and I tried to contact you Truthy, however the phone was cut off. I cried a little, inside. Hugh laughed though.

Don't watch it. Don't care. Can they put Ant & Dec back on please?

x factor like big brother has been on tv for far longer than it needs to be. TV executives are being plain lazy and they should be investing in new TV drama, light entertainment, comedy and documentaries not continously putting rubbish like x factor and that strictly dancing cobblers on for long drawn out series.
