No more an underachieving security guard, Larry has become a top inventor and left his artefact friends at New York’s Museum of Natural History behind.
But they’re now being put into storage at the Smithsonian and things get complicated when the tablet that animates them is included – bringing all of the Smithsonian exhibits to life too.
Larry must restore order before the awakened Egyptian pharoah Kamunrah realises his plan to conquer the world with his army of the undead.
Ben Stiller, Ricky Gervais, Owen Wilson and Steve Coogan all reprise their roles for this sequel, which is pacier and more plot-driven that its predecessor.
The gags come thick and fast, though not all of them hit the mark, and there’s cameo appearances from the likes of Eugene Levy, Christopher Guest and Clint Eastwood to name but a few.
Night at the Museum 2 may fall short of its potential but it’s still a fun family film.
