Twilight (12a) - Your views
December 23, 2008
An unlikely love story between a vampire and a displaced teenage girl has fast become a global phenomenon.
Based on the best-selling novel written by a stay-at-home Mormon mum, Twilight is the first in a series of four stories about Bella (Kristen Stewart), a 17-year-old who moves from Phoenix to the rainy town of Forks to live with her father.
But soon Bella becomes intrigued by the beautiful and enigmatic Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson).
He seems different from the other students; he only hangs out with his adoptive brothers and sisters, he speaks like a character in an old movie and, strangely, he can’t stand to sit next to her in biology class.
Then one day Edward saves clumsy Bella from her own death, forcing him to admit to his supernatural powers – his only weakness is being forced into a frenzy simply by her scent.
Although low on the blood and gore, Bella and Edward’s first few encounters are almost unbearable, with the suspense lingering upon the first kiss, rather than first bite.

But how long can this infatuation last between a ferocious predator and his willing prey? And how will the ‘vegetarian’ Cullen vampires react to their son’s new acquaintance?
Things get complicated when a group of ‘nomad’ vampires arrive on the scene to hunt for humans, putting Bella in the path of a different kind of danger for which Edward feels solely responsible.
