The X-mas Factor comes to Bracknell this weekend when singer Jamie ‘Afro’ Archer comes to town for the big lights switch-on.

The big-haired singer, who was voted off in week six in last year’s X Factor competition, will be lighting up the town on Sunday evening.

But before that, there will be range of pre-switch-on entertainment.

The festive fun starts at 3.30pm with comedy duo Steve Hyland and Danny Glover, who will providing family fun and music throughout the afternoon.

At 4.15pm, Bracknell Glee Club will be in the town to perform its Christmas single Light a Candle.

The club’s founder Richard Whennell says: “We’re thrilled with the response Light a Candle has received so far.

“It’s a very exciting time for us and we’ve been working really hard in rehearsals.

“We hope everyone will be able to come out and see us perform.”

After the Glee Club’s performance Jamie will turn on the lights in Princess Square.

Artemis Dance Group will then be putting on a dance display at 4.30pm.

At 4.45pm, the Glee Club will perform again, before another display from Artemis.

Then Jamie will sing, before turning on the lights in Charles Square.

“I’m very excited about coming to Bracknell,” he says.

“The line-up looks great and I’m really looking forward to getting up on stage and soaking up the Christmas atmosphere.”

After the music, the evening finishes with a firework extravaganza which will also be set to music. It’s being organised by British Firework Champions, Bullbrook-based Star Fireworks.

Not someone who won a game show, but... someone who lost a game show and last year. We are in the age of celebrity nobodies for sure. It is a good thing the council got someone to do it for a hundred quid rather than waste thousands getting a real celebrity to do it after all times are tight and the council needs to get value for our money. They didn't get conned into paying a lot of money for this did they? Investigative journalists, where are you?
