Festival returns to Sandhurst Memorial Park

July 16, 2010

A whole weekend of festivities including music, dance, games, sports, food, drink and more is coming to Sandhurst Memorial Park.

The Sandhurst Festival returns to the Yorktown Road venue this weekend with Sandhurst Mayor Councillor Carole Cupper opening the event at 2pm tomorrow.

The day will feature performances from The Sandhurst Corps of Drums, a Sandhurst’s Got Talent competi-tion and Orkestra Del Sol. The festival resumes at 11am on Sunday, when the Sandhurst Royal Military Academy band, an It’s a Knockout event and the annual Sandhurst Duck Race will feature.

People are also invited to join the Big Lunch – a nationwide drive to get people together for a picnic – at 1pm. Just bring along some food.

The weekend will conclude with a Last Night of the Proms-style performance featuring Sandhurst Silver Band and a fireworks show.

Entry is free although a donation to the mayor’s charity, the Dr Howard Stilliard Memorial fund, which helps local children achieve their ambitions, is encouraged.
