Lollercoaster comedy night coming to Bracknell

July 19, 2012

Comedy fans can take a wild ride on the Lollercoaster – a new night showcasing the area’s comedy talent.

The monthly night has been thought up by mates Ryan Dalton, from Crown Wood, and Alex Voakes, 25, from Birch Hill.

The up-and-coming duo were frustrated by the lack of opportunity for young comedians to perform in the area. So after a night out at a comedy club together they decided to start staging their own event in Bracknell.

The next night is held at the Admiral Cunningham pub in Priestwood Court Road, on Thursday, July 26, from 7pm.

Ryan said: “We’ve had two nights at the pub so far, both of which have been very successful.

“We’ve had around 50 people at each one and wanted to spread the word of what we’re doing.

“As new performers, we’ve found there isn't anywhere in Bracknell for people to show what they can do.

“South Hill Park is the only place and they look for more established people.

“For new talent there’s nothing, so we decided one night after an night in St Albans we were going to do it.”

The evening will feature around six performers from Bracknell and surrounding areas, as well as an open mic segment for anyone brave enough to get up on the stage.

Ryan added: “It’s a really good crowd there. Because Alex and I compere and also live locally, we have a lot of banter with the crowd to get them going for the performers.

“And if anyone fancies having a go, there's a two or three minute session available if they’ve got some material.

“We’re really excited to be bringing this to Bracknell, it’d be great if we unearthed comedy’s next big thing at the Lollercoaster night.”
