Mission accomplished: BambooBy Miss L
March 10, 2008
Saturday night saw the third promotion for Nights of Nostalgia presented by Lisa.
DJ teams QBM (Quality Black Music), Sparks Pete Precise and Hess lit the underground club up with a fresh and familiar mix of old skool R‘n’B and soulful house and garage good enough to get our angelic wings flapping on the dance floor. Heavenly.
As usual, Lisa didn’t let us down and every clubber was given a golden coin on entry (OK, it was plastic) to exchange for an authentically mixed glass of rum punch from the ever-flowing drinks fountain by one of Lisa’s chirpy hostess friends.
It was my first visit to Bamboo and to say it was like Doctor Who’s Tardis was no exaggeration if you’ve ever seen the tiny entrance of the club from outside.
The over 25s crowd boogied on down until 4pm for a brilliant trouble free night.
The 430 strong crowd flocked from far and wide in hope of being united with old friends. This even included Lisa, who was pleasantly surprised to bump into her first-ever boyfriend.
I was pleased to catch up with some friends whom I used to waitress with at the long since gone Caesar’s Palace that used to be just up the road in Station Hill, more years ago than I’d like to remember!
The next Night of Nostalgia will be on Saturday, June 7, at the Face Club – its debut venue. There is an invitation-only event being held at the Jazz Club (presently De’licious) on May 25. This will not be a Night of Nostalgia, but an exclusive night for the over 30s.

Lisa apologised for not being able to get around to speak to everyone on the night, but it’s just as well because by the morning she’d lost her voice.
