Signed Real Madrid football up in Stepping Stones charity auction

A charity supporting children with Down Syndrome and their parents is auctioning a football signed by players of a superstar team.

Stepping Stones DS, which helps five-year-old Grace Elkes of Roby Drive, Birch Hill, hopes it will raise enough money to run its ball skills sessions.

Grace’s mum Jo nominated Stepping Stones DS in the Community Matters fundraising scheme at Waitrose, in Bond Way, which saw the support group granted £982. Jo, who has been supported by the charity since Grace, pictured above, was four-months-old, said: “It’s massively important. It’s been a huge support for me and my family, they even get Grace’s sister involved as well.

“None of us are experts but you can guarantee there’s someone else who’s been through the same thing as you that you can talk to.”

The charity will auction the ball, singed by every member of the 2011/12 La Liga winning Real Madrid squad, including Pepe, Kaka and Ronaldo.

The auction will run for 10 days on Ebay finishing on World Down Syndrome Day on Thursday, March 21. Go to www.steppingstonesds.co.uk or search Real Madrid signed football on Ebay.
