More than 300 people race between Crowthorne and Sandhurst in orienteering event

Cold weather failed to deter more than 300 adventurers from taking part in an orienteering event.

People of all ages completed the Southern Navigators 6th Saturday Series Orienteering League for 2012/13 on Saturday, February 2, between Sandhurst and Crowthorne.

Mark Howell, Southern Navigators publicity officer, said: “The orienteering takes place on Edgbarrow Hill and Heath which lies between Eagle House and Wellington College and has been a regular Junior League venue over the years.

“Our thanks go to Wellington College for their staff support and permitting the use of their school facilities to stage the event.”

Colour coded courses for different levels of difficulty were on offer and winners included George Simmonds, Thomas Howell, Elliott Parnell, Jane Archer, Kai Magee and Tom Frost.

Southern Navigators is one of the oldest established orienteering clubs in Britain formed in 1965 by co-founders of the London Marathon, Chris Brasher and John Disley.
