Paramedic Bob and Bluebell Bear collected cash raised from Santa’s Grotto on behalf of two charities.
The mascots each received £2862.50 for their respective charities, Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance and Sebastian’s Action Trust, at a presentation on Tuesday, January 15.
Robyn Harvey, communications officer for Sebastian’s Action Trust, said the money will pay for two families to stay at The Bluebells respite holiday house and five Bracknell families are booked to stay this year.
She added: “It’s fantastic to think that some of their holidays were funded by the grotto in their community.”
Santa’s Grotto in Bentalls in Charles Square was funded by Bracknell Regeneration Partnership(BRP) last month.
Rob Morris, BRP general manager, described it as a ‘magical Christmas experience’.
He said: “As a bonus, visitors to the grotto will also know that they have contributed to two very worthy causes and I am sure the money raised will be put to good use.”
Katie Whelpdale, Berkshire fundraising manager for Thames Valley and Chiltern Air Ambulance, added: “The fantastic amount raised by BRP will help to keep our helicopter operate across Berkshire, Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire.
“We receive no central Government or National Lottery funding and rely on the community and businesses to continue our life-saving work.”
