Overwhelming interest in Twyford Christmas tree festival

By Jon Nurse
November 28, 2012

Twyford's Christmas tree festival is so overwhelmed with interest it has stopped accepting entries.

St Mary’s Church in Station Road will be packed with decorated trees from Thursday, December 6, until Sunday, December 9.

Paul Bromley, who organises the event with wife Pam, said: “Last year we had 52 trees on display.

“Our target for this year was 63, but we are already up to 67. If we accept any more there will not be enough room for people to come and look at them all. It’s a wonderful response.”

Groups entering trees range from very young children to seniors such as Age Concern and include a number of the village’s businesses.

Admission is free between 11am and 4.30pm, but tickets must be purchased for some events and are already becoming limited.

Tickets are on sale for the Waltham St Lawrence Silver Band at 7.30pm on the Thursday, magician Steve Price on the Saturday, and Christmas tea from 2.30pm to 4pm on the Sunday.

On the Friday the festival will be open until 9pm as part of the Twyford Village Fayre, and the High Voltage Singers will be performing.

Tickets are on sale at Brighton’s newsagents in Twyford and the church office.
