A rotary club raised more than £10,000 for charity at a golf day.

The Children with Special Needs Foundation will receive half of the proceeds from the event at Royal Ascot Golf Club organised by the Rotary Club of Ascot.

Fifteen teams competed in the competition raising money for the charity, which cares for children with special needs in Surrey, East Berkshire and North Hampshire.

Captain Andy Jones was named the individual winner of the 18-hole Stableford competition, and prizes were also awarded for getting to the nearest pin during the event in September.

Organiser Rotarian Colin Corio said: “All the participants seem to have enjoyed the day, and we are very pleased with the sum we have raised in these difficult economic times. I would like especially to thank our main sponsor, Eiffel UK, for their continued support.”
