Community work together to clear up Allsmoor Pond

By Julie Spencer
November 06, 2012

A community clean-up by neighbours, council staff and a youth group has spruced up the area around Allsmoor Pond.

Members of The Allsmoor and Bullbrook Co-operative (ABC), young people from The Wayz youth centre in Harmans Water and Bracknell Forest Council’s Forest and Parks team pulled on their waterproofs to clear shrubbery and vegetation from the edges and pathways around the pond.

The project was one of the main aims of The Harmans Water, Martins Heron and The Warren Neighbourhood Action Group when it was formed.

Volunteers also cleared debris from grids along the Bull Brook stream during the clean-up on Saturday, October 13.

Harmans Water, Martins Heron and The Warren NAG chairman, Councillor Trevor Kensall, welcomed and thanked everyone for volunteering and taking part.

The ABC now hopes Thames Water, which owns the pond, will repair walls around the edge and the pathway to enable disabled access.

At the end of the morning, volunteers enjoyed hot drinks and refreshments at The Wayz, donated by Tesco.
