Outdoor types get their boots on for a day of walks around Bracknell

Fans of the great outdoors got together for a day of walks during Bracknell Outdoor and Walking Festival last weekend.

There were four walks of varying lengths, a cycle ride and a horse ride, all starting from Frost Folly Country Park in Warfield.

Hugh Fitzwilliams, a rights of way ranger for Bracknell Forest, said: “The walks went exceedingly well and it was a beautiful day.

“It’s the first time we’ve done something like this and it was well attended.

“We had 16 people for the advanced level walk and 10 for the medium level one.”

The event was to promote and celebrate the borough’s Public Rights of Way network, and supported by, among others, Chiltern Equine, Warfield Parish Council and Paul Stanley from the South East Berkshire Ramblers.

The festival also aimed to inspire people to get more involved with outdoor recreation and encourage them to take part in activities such as conservation volunteering.
