Free lifesaving sessions with St John Ambulance

By Jessica Hemson

Learn how to save a life with St John Ambulance this month.

The first aid charity is running its Save a Life September campaign and will be giving free demonstrations at Princess Square in Bracknell on Saturday, September 22.

St John Ambulance volunteers will be demonstrating CPR and teaching shoppers how to treat bleeding, choking and heart attacks between 9.30am and 4pm and will be handing out free pocket-sized first aid guides.

Ralph Brown, St John Ambulance regional training manager, said: “Learning first aid is one of the single most important things you can do. You never know when you may need it.”

The charity’s research shows up to 150,000 people die every year in situations where first aid could have given them the chance to live. They also found that up to 58 per cent of the public wouldn’t know what to do if faced with a medical emergency.
