Q &A: Graeme Thompson of 1st Crowthorne Scouts

By Steph Davies
July 16, 2012

Graeme Thompson, 51, from Crowthorne, is Group Scout leader of 1st Crowthorne Scouts, an IT sales manager, husband, and father of three

What is your favourite food? Traditional English, such as shepherd’s pie and treacle tart with custard – my quest is to find a treacle tart as good as the one my mother used to make.

What is your favourite holiday destination? The twin villages of Cawsand and Kingsand on the Rame Peninsula in Cornwall.

What was the last book you read? I like the Master & Commander series by Patrick O’Brien.

What is your favourite film? Clint Eastwood’s A Fistful of Dollars.

What hobbies do you have? Apart from Scouting and travelling, I play squash, I am learning to ballroom dance with my wife, and I have an MG sports car which is overdue for some restoration work.

What makes you smile? Lots of things do, however, most recently it is my 18-month granddaughter, who has brought a fresh aspect into our lives. And I only have to think about Four Candles to generate a quiet chuckle.

Who would be your ideal dinner guests? Adventurer Bear Grylls, raconteur Stephen Fry, musician Joe Bonamassa and actress Emma Thompson.

What do you like about Bracknell Forest? It has a very active and inclusive community, good rural areas for dog walking, and easy access to places like London and the West Country.

What is the one thing you would change about Bracknell Forest? Tricky this one, but I would like to see more investment in developing Bracknell’s character and facilities while protecting the good things such as the green spaces.
