Question time for borough's carers

By Laura Herbert
February 14, 2012

Carers in Bracknell Forest enjoyed a quiz and community lunch organised by Bracknell Forest Voluntary Action (BFVA).

Around 85 carers enjoyed a buffet lunch and general knowledge quiz at Easthampstead Baptist Church on Friday, January 27.

The event, organised by Chris Bounds, care services manager at BFVA, provided an opportunity to carers across the borough to socialise and enjoy a range of activities.

Julie Clark, from the Stroke Association, was also on hand at the lunch to offer health checks and advice to carers, while a representative from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service spoke about free home fire checks the service is offering.

One carer, who wished to remain anonymous, said: “To all at BFVA, who have surpassed themselves this year with their help, comfort and loving care for me in this very difficult year for me. They have kept me afloat.

“Helping me has enabled me to be a better carer to my husband.”

BFVA will host a community lunch event at Bullbrook Community Centre in Bullbrook Row between midday and 2pm on Thursday, April 12.
