Meet Crowthorne Carnival's Princess Milly

May 05, 2010

A schoolgirl will get a taste of royal life as she takes on the role of carnival princess at a village event.

A panel of judges including deputy mayor of Bracknell Forest Councillor Ian Leake and Crowthorne Cllr Jim Finnie chose 11-year-old Wildmoor Heath Primary School pupil Milly Crocker to be this year’s Crowthorne Carnival Princess.

Milly will be the star of the carnival procession on Saturday, July 3, when she leads the line of floats to the carnival fete at the Morgan Rec to kick off nine days of celebrations in the village.

Milly will be assisted by the princess attendants 10-year-old Oaklands Primary School pupil Francesca Cannarozzo and Katie Howard, 11, who goes to Hatch Ride School.

The contest to be named Carnival Princess 2010 was organised by Patricia Walmsley of the Rotary Club of Crowthorne and Sandhurst.

She said: “It was a delightful thing for me to do on a Saturday and the Rotary Club of Crowthorne and Sandhurst is again delighted to have organised this event.”

This year’s carnival, a biannual event, is themed around ‘the rhythm of life’ and, as well as the procession and fete, there are many other events between Saturday, July 3, and Monday, July 12, including a front garden contest, concerts and a flower festival.
