Dance club ladies have a spring in step!

April 16, 2009

Easter chicks showed off their bonnet-making skills at a party.

Bracknell Over-50s Dance Club, at the Royal British Legion in Stanley Walk, held the hat competition earlier this month.

Photographer for The Standard Clare Newman was commandeered to judge the headgear.

She said: “The quality of the entries was very high, they were really, really good!

“It was a hard job picking a winner.”

In the end Clare gave the first prize to Marie-Jo Hill for her Chicks Galore entry and second place went to Beryl Howells.

Shirley Braban, 70, of Vandyke in Great Hollands, runs the club with her husband George.

She said: “It was wonderful. We were really pleased with the quality of the competition and the number of entries. I think everyone enjoyed the afternoon – it was very Easter-y!”

Members of the club meet on Wednesday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm and Shirley is particularly looking for more men to join. For more information call her on (01344) 441110.
