Fare reductions and free journeys around Bracknell's bus routes
By Jennie SlevinFebruary 15, 2013
Buses around Bracknell have dropped their fares and are offering free return journeys across many routes.
On Saturday, First reduced the price of its journeys for both children and adults, creating a saving of £1.30 per adult and 65p per child.
The reductions mean anyone buying a single ticket on routes 155, 171, 172 and 194 between Ringmead and Bracknell Bus Station will be able to travel back the same day for free.
FirstWeek tickets around Bracknell Area One have also dropped by almost a quarter.
The ticket, which provides a week of travel on routes 155, 171, 172, 190, 191 and 194, is £10 for adults and £6.60 for a child.
Matthew Wooll, First revenue and marketing manager said: “There’s never been a better time to leave the car at home and try the bus.
“We all need to do our bit to reduce congestion and using the bus is also better for the environment.”

Some routes the operators are paid to run by the council (e.g. routes that would be unprofitable but the council deems them socially necessary, as per the 1986 Transport Act they have to pay for them).
