Twyford MP says plans to electrify rails at Twyford will reduce overcrowding

Twyford MP Theresa May hopes plans to electrify railway lines to Twyford will help reduce overcrowding.
A Network Rail plan for 2014-19 confirms electrification of the route serving Twyford and could also benefit the Henley line, which passes through Wargrave, thanks to a £14 billion Government investment
The Home Secretary said: “I am very pleased Network Rail are considering extending electrification to the Thames Valley branch lines, which are crucial routes serving my constituents in Wargrave.
“This is something I have previously called for, and will be important in ensuring that direct services to London are maintained on the branch lines.
“Overall, the electrification of the Great Western route is very welcome and will be part of the work that is needed to reduce overcrowding.”
The Government’s pledge to improve rail infrastructure will be used to electrify the line between London and Bristol, by 2016 and to Cardiff by 2017.
