More than £6,000 was raised by members of a women’s gym in Wokingham for Breast Cancer Care.

Staff and members of Curves, in Denton Road, helped raised £6,200 for the charity during its Breast Cancer Awareness initiative during October.

The gym also received donations from Tesco, Waitrose, Pizza Express, Vitality Shop, Clintons Cards and The Rotary Club to help reach its total.

Owner Bev Gellard said: “A couple of our members held activities outside the club and very kindly donated the monies to us, so a big thank you to Chris Moran and Jane Bingham.

“A special thank you to our lovely countess, Sue Fowler, for helping us count all the monies raised during the month.

“Three times a week Sue could be found in the back office counting 100s of 20ps which you all so kindly donated.”

She added: “We are so proud of our members for their show of support and their enthusiasm.

“Strengthening women is our mission at Curves – we’re working to keep everyone healthy through exercise and through learning to be breast aware.”
