Athena Network bond over Champagne reception

Seventy businesswomen got together with the hope of making new connections for 2013.
The women-only group, The Athena Network, held the event at Côte Brasserie on The Oracle Riverside before moving on to a Champagne reception at House of Fraser, where they also enjoyed exclusive in-house discounts.
Juliette Smith, one of The Athena Network’s regional directors, said the group in Reading has grown five-fold in the last two years.
She said: “What better combination than motivated businesswomen getting together to build connections with each other in an environment comprising great food, fashion ideas, shopping opportunities and beauty advice?
“We wanted to show one of Athena’s main aims in action – to provide opportunities to make strategic connections with other professionals from a wide variety of industries.
“Many of our members prefer to network with other women because in their experience, women tend to focus on relationship building to develop trust and get to know each other, which results in more business referrals, connections and mutual support rather than just trying to sell.”
