Buy English wines and beers at TheWinePlace's vineyard shop
By Julie SpencerNovember 28, 2012
A couple whose business is English wine have set up their first shop in a vineyard.
Lynda and Jonny Vaughan have branched out from their stall at Wokingham market to open their shop at the Binfield Vineyard – the home of the sparkling Binfield Brut.
They will still sell wines and locally produced beer from the market on Fridays and Saturdays but TheWinePlace will be open every week from Tuesday to Friday to meet increased demand.
Lynda said: “When I initially started my plan was to open a shop but it wasn’t financially viable so we set up the market stall.
“Jonny will be on the market still but I will be in the shop and I hope people will come and see me there.
“We will always have the odd bottle open for testing.”
Mrs Vaughan said interest in sampling English wines had been sparked by the Royal Wedding and the Jubilee, two national occasions where English wine was drunk.
TheWinePlace at Binfield Vineyard in Forrest Road, Wokingham, is open between 10am and 6pm Tuesday to Thursday and between 10am and 4pm on Friday.
Jonny will be at Wokingham market on Friday and Saturday between 10am and 5pm.

I bought my dad some birthday presents from TheWinePlace and he loved sampling a range of local beers and wines. Each bottle also had an accompanying leaflet on details of the wine's origin, serving and other details, which was a lovely touch as a gift to someone who enjoys their wines. I'm pretty sure he was fond of the beers, his final word to me was - 'bring a crate back next time'!
