Cisco staff help promote Sue Ryder's Starlight Hike
By Julie SpencerSeptember 20, 2012
Staff at Sue Ryder in Crowthorne welcomed volunteers from Cisco who helped promote the charity’s Starlight Hike.
The Cisco team went out in the High Street on Friday, September 7 to encourage passers-by to sign up for the night walk at Reading’s Green Park.
Susan Pointing, who manages the shop, said: “It was such a fun day and they were so helpful.
“They helped out steaming and hanging clothes as well as stopping people and explaining about the hike.”
So far the Crowthorne shop has signed up 14 hikers, but Mrs Pointing said she really hoped more people would come into the shop to register.
She said: “We are doing very well and people can register online but we have a target so it is great for us if people actually register in the shop.”
The 10k Starlight Hike will take place on September 29 at eight locations across the UK including Reading.
It will start with music and entertainment. Walkers will be rewarded with a breakfast and a goody bag.
Cakes will be on sale at Crowthorne’s Sue Ryder shop all day on Friday, September 21.
