Customers choose Sebastian's Action Trust as Sainsbury's charity

Supermarket customers picked a new charity to benefit from fundraising over the next year.

Shoppers at Sainsbury’s, in Bagshot Road, voted for Sebastian’s Action Trust to receive money raised from the local charity partner scheme.

Store manager Mark Hedley said: “Sebastian’s Action Trust is such a worthy local cause and we’re pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months. We’ll be letting our customers know of our fundraising plans in-store and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping support them.”

Sebastian’s Action Trust was founded by nine-year-old Ascot boy Sebastian Gates shortly before he died of cancer in December 2003. The charity provides ongoing support and respite breaks for seriously-ill children and their families.

Jacqui Chapman, Sebastian’s Action Trust fundraising manager, said: “I’d like to thank everyone at Sainsbury’s Bagshot Road who nominated us to be the store’s new local charity partner. We currently support several Bracknell families and I hope this partnership will raise awareness to local residents about the work we do and the impact it has in the community.”

Last year, the store’s local charity partner was the MS Society and thanks to customers and colleagues it raised £986.66.
