Fratelli Roppa scoop Cafe Society award

July 04, 2012

A company based in East Reading which introduced an Italian chilled coffee drink to the UK has won a national award.

Fratelli Roppa scooped the Cafe Society new product award for bringing Brasilena over from Calabria, in southern Italy.

The business saw off Caffe Nero’s hot porridge, Delice de France’s Wrapped to Go range and Green Cauldron Coffee at the ceremony at Kensington Roof Gardens.

The lightly carbonated drink is made from coffee beans, mineral water, caramel and sugar and was described by judges as an innovative and brilliant product for the cafe/coffee bar market.

Fratelli Roppa started importing the produce this year to honour the wish of the owner’s daughter, Sabina, who died in 2007.

Chief executive Antonio Roppa said: “Sabina would have been so proud to see it on sale and the award is a big step towards the coffee drink reaching out to a wider audience.”
