March 23, 2012

Chickens have been flying off the shelves at branches of a Bracknell-based supermarket giant across the country - thanks to a new recipe by Delia Smith.

The football-loving chef's lemon and thyme chicken recipe has seen a 3,500 per cent rise in the sale of medium chickens, as well as the other items in the recipe, red onions, seeing a 100 per cent increase in sales compared to 2011.

There has also been an increase in sales of 146 per cent in Chantenay carrots.

Roasts ruled the roost with sales of beef, stocks and gravies all rising, as well as a 211 per cent surge in the sale of roasting vegetables.

Also, with Easter fast approaching, chocoholics have been snapping up eggs, with sales rising by 73 per cent comapred to last year.
