Regeneration could be complete in five years

Bracknell's new town centre could be finished within five years, town centre bosses have revealed.

Helen Barnett, marketing manager for Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, says plans for the new Bracknell are well underway and people should expect “big announcements” in the new year.

She said the final stages of the Compulsory Purchase Order process were underway and should finish by the end of the year, after which will follow some exciting news.

She said: “The economy took a bit of a dive at the wrong time and it does take a long time to develop something this big.

“It’s a 90 acre, mixed-use site.

“We’ve been working very closely with the council to bring this forward as quickly as we can.

“There’s a lot of work that’s gone on behind the scenes.

“We are speaking to retailers but I can’t say anything yet.

“We have to get the retail mix right, so we have all the shops needed to compete with other towns. We’re looking at the moment at a five-year plan from now.

“We have half a town to keep trading and that’s what we’re doing at the moment.

“We will take out bits and pieces and carry it out in a phased way to ensure the town keeps trading.

“I can’t say anything now, but there will be some big announcements earlier next year.”

ha ha ha brp get funnier by the day.they forgot to put the number three in front of the five year plan. 35 year plan they mean.these people come out with the same inane drivel week after week.not too long ago a spokeswoman for brp got herself so excited about a new entrance to princess square (millions were going to be spent on it) and all the good people of bracknell would turn up to see it and then go in and spend loads of dosh,oooh i feel a shopping spree coming on just by going to look at a new entrance to princess square.to all the people in the brp please leave cloud cuckoo land and take a look around at the dirtiest outdated dump of a town that is called bracknell.look at the empty shops and offices what does that tell you.and my final comment someone is making a lot of money out of this regeneration game and it certainly is not the people of bracknell

It's good to see that the people of Bracknell are as excited as BRP about this news. You can tell by the number of comments so far...................none! Bit of a non-news story really isn't it? Why bother to tell us that they can't tell us anything yet?
