Bakery treats on anniversary

December 22, 2010

Customers were delighted when extra mince pies were tucked into their shopping bags for free to celebrate the fourth anniversary of a Hurst bakery.

Free coffee and cakes were dished out to shoppers visiting Hurst Bakery and Provisions in The Street to celebrate several years of success since the shop opened in 2006.

Brothers Jitu and Duras Miah, from Earley, bought the shop four years ago.

They opened in 2007 with a new seating area to allow people to dine in-store and also developed a new menu with daily lunch specials at affordable prices.

In 2009 the duo expanded their businesses to include a catering service, following a demand for their products at functions and parties.

Jitu Miah said: “We just want to spread the Christmas feeling around.”

The bakery offers freshly baked goods, sandwiches and cakes as well as home-made Indian foods which are a big hit with customers.
