Million thanks for Yell cash boost

March 15, 2010

Generous staff at Yell have raised a whopping £90,000 for The Prince’s Trust.

Their stunning fundraising effort saw them win the London and South East region of the charity’s Million Maker’s Challenge.

The 13-strong team organised everything from quiz nights to sponsored sky dives as they battled it out with 70 companies to raise the most cash for the youth charity’s business programme.

They also held dress down days, wine tasting, cake sales and a glitzy ball at Wokefield Park which brought in £26,000.

The workers, from Yell’s Reading and Slough offices, picked up their award from Tim Campbell – the first winner of BBC’s The Apprentice – at a lavish ceremony in Leicester Square.

They also finished second in the national competition.

Caroline Lomas, chairwoman of the winning Yell team, said: “The team has had to be highly creative and energetic.

“We’ve astonished ourselves at the amount we’ve raised, which has come from a wide range of events such as a showcase ball, wine tasting event, quiz nights and a fundraising car park.”
