Fujitsu staff in second day of strike

January 08, 2010

Fujitsu staff are into the second day of their latest strike.

Employees at the IT firm’s Bracknell and Winnersh offices are among Unite union members who have walked out in a row over pay and pensions.

Union members will also be on strike on Monday before walking out again next Thursday and Friday under part of a planned six-day strike.

Fujitsu staff to strike for six days

Union representatives had been in talks with Fujitsu bosses but were unable to resolve their is-sues.

Peter Skyte, Unite national officer, said: “Whilst we remain ready and willing to talk at any time, Fujitsu remains a highly profitable company but has to date shown little willingness to seriously address the underlying issues of jobs, pay and pensions.

"Other IT companies are dealing with similar issues in a much more constructive way and the ap-proach taken by Fujitsu to date treats its highly skilled workforce as a disposable commodity rather than its most important asset.”

Well I suppose that the workers on strilke wil have their pay docked and give Fujitsu a little more cash. Strikers wake up and smell the coffee, the only thing that your strike will bring is a redundancy notice. Ten percent of the workforce being in the union do not have the power or influence to change things. Best of luck with your job hunting in 2010
