Getting ready for the upturn

November 05, 2009

Reading's business bosses were urged to prepare for the upturn at a meeting of economic experts.

More than 150 executives gathered at the Blue Mountain Golf Club in Bracknell to hear from professionals about the support available for SMEs as the economy begins to recover.

The event, organised by Lloyds TSB Commercial, provided specialist advice from UK Trade & Investment, Business Link and local law firms.

Host Paul Smart, area director for Lloyds TSB Commercial in Thames Valley, said: “The shape and scale of any recovery is still uncertain, but one thing is clear – those businesses already looking towards the upturn and planning how to make the most of it, are the ones that will thrive.

“It’s important for firms in Reading to begin preparing for the opportunities the upturn presents.

“This was a chance to bring together the local business community and discuss how companies can move forward and seize an advantage over competitors.”
