Loving the new Heart

Heart radio’s re-brand from 2ten fm looks like it’s been a sound move with the radio recording an uplift in listeners and the hours they spend tuned in.

It attracted around 212,000 listeners across its broadcast area of Berkshire and North Hampshire according to the latest official industry survey – up seven per cent.

The station has also extended its reach from 27 per cent of the population to 29 per cent, and listening hours per person have also gone up.

The new audience figures follow the re-brand in March and a major marketing campaign.

Programme controller Tim Parker said: “It’s fantastic news – we’ve only been on the air a few months. The rebrand has proved a great success.”

He said Heart Breakfast with Foxy was attracting more listeners and the music variety broadcast by mid-morning presenter Toby Anstis had also increased audiences.

Radio Berkshire also recorded some success in the RAJAR survey which compares the three months to June with the same period last year.

Its reach rose two per cent to 17 per cent and the station can lay claim to 10,000 more listeners each week. The average hours people listened went down slightly.

Reading 107’s figures were much the same as last year, reaching 12 per cent of the population in its broadcast area.

I wouldn't listen if you paid me! Their taste in ice cream is much better than their music tastes!
